they could have just said...running with good balance results in a harder hit and maybe a harder ball, its just harder to hit the target while running. 7minute video could have been 1

Come visit drdino.com's multimedia section for long ages & evolution-bashing info. subscribe 2 mii pliiase :) intro: there is no unambiguous evidence which proves star formation is taking place: just because dust gets blown in certain directions, doesn't mean it collapses into a new star!!! dust just clears from one area and goes to the next and a star which is ALREADY THERE is now exposed when it was previously hidden by dust!!! but u don't see that explanation in textbooks ... drdino.com

So much fucking bullshit. Just get on with it.

He must sync the front leg and the swing even more so that the energy goes from his leg into his swing

Im 16 and practiced this at the driving range and i can hit the ball perfectly straight about 350+ yards this way. look at my video "Billy Engel hits a golf ball happy gilmore style"!!

let me save everyone 7 minutes. the happy gilmore technique increases average distance by 30 yards. You're all welcome =)

@BigboyDownStairs just run at that ball and let your whole body explode like a nuclear bomb. it is fucking amazing! I tried it and it was great to see the ball flewing with such a power

He talks about consistency as being a reason for not using this technique, but wouldn't one be able to refine the specific techniques to increase that consistency or accuracy?

Please replay the swing because I missed it.
By: ghman89. on 23 Aug 10, 02:58:18
r u retarted its not just the swing dont u remember happy gilmore was a hockey player and he used a slap shot to hit it as well not just running up to the ball ya it will make it go farther but the slap sjot will make it more acurate and have more distance

you make a valid point @MAlatinboy. Ideally a pro can choose to go Happy Gilmore or still swing with a conventional approach. The extra yards could for some of the bigger hitters could mean getting on green in one on a par four and two on a par five (UGIF) which could mean strokes off of multiple holes
By: MAlatinboy. on 22 Aug 10, 04:46:05
@CerebralPrince10 true but pros do mishit the ball, and any mishit is exaggerated by a gilmore swing. that swing has a low success % and pros can't afford to be less accurate. i bet most pros could hit it way further if they swung at full power and used drivers that maximized distance, but most just swing easier and use more forgiving drivers for accuracy and still hit it far. bubba watson and camilo villegas used to hit it farther on the nationwide tour, but they stopped that for the pga tour.

You need to be an ex-icehockey player like Happy AND have his bizarre attitude if you want to reach that 400 yard mark. Otherwise you're just not going to make it, no matter how much of a professional golfer you are.

Wow, I like Padraig Harrington a thousand times more than I did seven and a half minutes ago!

if he wanted to hit it really really far he should have used a hockey stick
By: CerebralPrince10. on 05 Aug 10, 05:59:13
@uechanchung Tiger's 330+ downhill would translate to 363+ with a happy gilmore style. 363 could mean getting on the green on some par fours hence lower scores. I again want to reiterate that there is higher hand-eye coordination requirement when hitting on the run, but for professional golfers this shouldn't be a problem
By: uechanchung. on 05 Aug 10, 04:41:18
@CerebralPrince10 tiger can crank it 330+ downhill or 275 on a shorter par 4 to setup an easier wedge as well as most top pros their driving is not just about distance but accuracy and 330 over 300 is not huge especially when considering accuracy alone - 60% of fairways on 300 yard drives avg imagine how much lower it would be going for the 330
